Hello,

I am trying to make my modules upgradeable by implementing the IUpgradeable::UpdateModule method on the module class.

However, after installing the module on the portal, it is not marked as Upgradebale, no matter if I use source files or PA.

I especially need to get the correct version number from the .dnn file after fixing bugs for QA.

Does anyone know what is the correct process for this?

Thanks!

Ofer

When you say " . . . implementing the IUpgradeable::UpdateModule method on the module class.", do you mean that you are implementing this interface (specifically the UpgradeModule method) in your module's default view control or in your module's controller class? It needs to be implemented in the controller class. Also, in the .dnn manifest file, have you specified your BusinessController class in the <businesscontroller> node or manually when you added the module's definition?

Hi Bill,

It's implemented in the default view class as this module does not have a specific business controller class.

Should I create one just for this purpose?

I haven't change the default settings in the .dnn file for the <businesscontroller> name, but as I said, I don't have this class implemeneted in code.

Thanks!

Ofer

As far as I recall, IUpgradeable must be implemented in the business controller class so that it can be called via reflection during module installation. I guess you would have to create one for this purpose and enter its fully qualified class name in the <businesscontroller> node of the .dnn file.

In case you have not seen it, Vicenç Masanas explained a bit in a recent blog

about what happens during module install and at what point(s) in the process UpgradeModule is called.

Thanks!

Yes, I have seen this blog post before.

I was able to get the module to upgrade now and see that the Upgradeable checkbox is checked and that the version number is set correctly.

However, I can do this only with a PA version of the module, not if I edit the .dnn file under the DesktopModules/modulename and "Add a new module definition" (I get "Error Installing Selected Module Manifest File"). Any way to work around this, since it's a pain to package the module each time on the testing machine? (I sync up the source code now)

And also, the module does not show and Upgraded green check icon on the module list. I am wondering why...

Many thanks!

Ofer
