I have created 6 custom modules for our website.  The website is being developed and has not been released to general public as of yet.  How will I upgrade them in the future.  I currently am using the source version of DNN and I just recompile mu custom module and it's changed on the website.  Now when we go live, I will not be able to just recompile the code as I will not be developing on the live code anymore.  What is the processing of upgrading modules?

My modules will be backward compatiable.

thanks,

Dean

Basically you will just need to create an installation package and then you can just "install" your upgrade to your production site.

I believe Michael Washington has an article on creating a module package http://dotnetnuke.adefwebserver.com

Once I have installed the module, isn't there a way I could just compile my code and copy it to the live server and overwrite the module code that it is using, without creating another install package?

You could simply FTP the new/updated files to the appropriate directories.  (Bin and desktopmodules), however I personally find the install package method easier!
