I'm in the process of writting my first module, its a replacement for the login/registration process as the current DNN standard is too clunky (unfriendly) for my needs and doesnt provide the sort of configuration options i want to be able to offer.

Anyway having traced  through the DNN frame work i have a module inheriting from UserModuleBase which should do the job for me, and prevent me re-inventing the wheel too much.  My question is about best practice for storing settings in DNN for my module?

I wish to allow users to be able to change the layout of my module in a similar manor to the profile configuration of DNN, i.e. group fields, move em up and down etc.  This wont work too well in tabModuleSettings or ModuleSettings, so whats best practice here, do i just go off and do my own thing or is there a standard pattern?

cheers
