I have started and converted a couple of modules to rel 4 or better to asp.net 2.

I like to make them precompiled. All works fine and there are a lot of goodiees in rel 2.

But I would like to have just one dll. Now I get one for App_code and one for each code behind. After making a few I realized that all had a dll settings.asc.xxxxxxx.dll and I had to rename the settings.ascx to be able to know what dll the module used. OK this works too but it would bee better to have just one dll per module.

Then I thought .. Do I need one test site without the code behind for the modules or does it work testing the dlls on the same site as I do the developement. How do ASP know not to do the precompile or use the dlls.

Another thing I like to have is assemblerinfo, this I havent trye yet but it seems to I have to have it on several places to get it work. (maybee a add on in next rel of the lovely module templates)

I have just started the road on asp.net 2 (Yesterday) so maybee this questions are to obvious but I couldnt find anything regarding this in the forums.

So if someone who have already have done the homework could give mee some directions I would bee very grateful.

Jan

Sorry - I've only used asp1.1 and dnn2.0 - now we are moving up - where the heck do the dll's go?  I put it in my .dnn file and loaded it with my module by it's not loading.  Also, the naming convention - you get a new dll name everytime your rebuild?  Help - or point me in the right direction please...

Jan, if you want to have a compiled assembly, you will need to setup a WAP project instead or using WSP. (http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/DNN4_WAP/)

asp.net 2 doesn't require a build. If you setup your module as a WSP module, you only need to save your files, that is all.
