I am curious if anyone know how to have a URL alias redirection similar to the way Child Portals redirect to the correct Portal.

I would like for people to be able to type www.mysite.com/username and it would redirect them to a page such as www.mysite.com/users/default.aspx?uid=xxxx

Does anyone know how to implement this?   Thanks!

Anyone?????  There is a way to do it by messing with the IIS and writing a custom HTTP Handler but I was looking for a way that didn't require jumping through so many hoops.  I am having a hard time fining a host that will change the IIS for me and I sure as heck can't run my own server.

What you're probably looking for is URLRewriter.

That looks close to what I am trying to achieve.  I see this on sites all the time where they have memberships and people can publish a url where others can see their profile.  This would be a great feature for DNN or someone to develope a module for DNN to handle.

you might look at inventua href module

http://www.inventua.com/dnn-hrefexchanger.content

I dont think this is exactly waht you want but you could use it to do what you are wanting if you buy the source and modify it a bit and you could still use the aspx exstension so you shouldnt have to set up too much
