Hi there,

I hope some of you guys have experienced this problem I am having as well and maybe you know a (simple) solution for that.
My issue is that I am creating a custom module and I have a couple of .NET 2.0 textboxes combined with a RegularExpression and a Compare validator. When I run the project in IE everything works nicely but if I test the module in Firefox (1.5.x and 2.0.x) the validation simply refuses to work.

I am aware that the ASP.NET 1.1 validation controls where using document.all() to reference DOM objects (thus being incompatible with Firefox and the rest of the world) but the JS code in .NET 2.0 looks ok on the first glance (document.GetElementByID()).

So any of you guys have some hint for me?

Best regards,

Tillman

You should never rely on client-side validation because it can be faked, or as you have seen it may not work. So whenever you are using data posted from a client page that has validators you should always check the Me.IsValid (or this.IsValid in C#) property which will tell you if any validators failed.

I've found that I could not get the client-side validation to work in Firefox either, so unfortunately the only thing I suggest is to double check on the server side. That way, the only disadvantage Firefox has is that it must do a postback before it can display the error messages, whereas IE can display them automatically.
