Hi Rob,
Thanks for the encouragement.
I developed the NB_Store after spending a large amount of time changing DNN Store v1.0 to get it to do what my clients wanted, after which I decided that the only way forward was to start from a blank page and hence I started to design and develop NB_Store using the DNN Store as a sounding board.
To answer your questions
Is it going to continue to be developed?
Yes I'm using NB_Store as our e-commerce solution so I'm always looking to improve it.
Is it going to be a commercial module?
The plans we have with the NB_Store is to release it free as open source. I just need to sort out how I do that nicely!
Does it suffer any particular problems?
I've beta tested the store on 3 website with increased functionality each time, the last beta test site was running the full functionality, as of now I've found no major problems. (Although usually in my experience some minor bugs always exist). I've also done some small load tests which seem to perform OK, but this is not my area of experience. However all my beta test clients have low volume websites (300 to 2000 unique visitors per month) so if a problem does exist with high load websites, it has not been highlighted.
Does it work properly on sub portals
I've designed it to work on sub portals and done testing on multiple portals (not in beta testing) and it seems to work fine.
Do the product pages get indexed by Google?
All internal link (apart from the buy button) are normal href links so any search engine should easily navigate the store. The original version of NB_Store which was a highly adapted version of the DNN v1.0 was indexed easily by the search engine and I've designed this along the same principles.
The product description editor looks to be just plain text in the demo. Will that eventually hold the FCK editor?
In my original development I was using an old version of Fck which wasn't compatible with AJAX so I removed the Fck editor and replaced it with the textbox. I'm not sure if the new version of Fck works OK with AJAX, but I think it does, if so I'll look at putting the Fcl back in on the next version.
Regards,
Dave
