I am hosting in Webhost4life.com (ok so far), but I am located in Chile. Soon I will kick off my 'super' site (for stamp collector). I starting to figure out that I might have time stamp issues.

Couples of important tables of my modules stamp the datetime automatically once create record in tables (SQL command GetDate() ). But I will get confuse about the database time, DNN time and User time.

What are the best practices to get the right time (in the database, DNN and User)....
Should I set the UTC 0 in DNN?, What about the daylight saving

I expect users from different time zones... and I wnat to give them the right time when, for example, a comment was left in a section of the website.

Thanks for your comments.

If your running everything in the same server, you can just rely on your DB saved datetime. By doing this, when a user gets to the module where you are displaying the dates, they will be formatted according to the users own culture. That is, if you dont manually convert the SQL datetime to a string of some sort before doing this...

Hope this helps, cheers!

Unfortunately, my server is out of my timezone. I am in Chile, my hosting is in US (PST), and most of my users are spanish language (Chile, Argentina, Peru, Mexico, España, etc.) all have different time zone....So, I figured out how FORUM Module solved the problem.

I think the DNN Core should consider take a formal solution for the timezone in the comming version. Just add a setting in the host tab will solve the problem (at least in someway.... then came the daylight saving issue)

Cheers,

Alfonso
