Hi all,

I wrote a module that would benefit from using AJAX, so I downloaded the extensions from http://AJAX.Asp.net and watched the nice man from Microsoft explain how to AJAX enable an ASP page.

Followed all the directions and therefore [theoretically] AJAX enabled my module .

It didn't work.

I'm using DNN 4.4.1, but I noted some comments on the net that suggested that 'DNN won't be AJAX enabled until 4.5'

Is this true?

regards,
Duncan

True. You need a bunch of settings in your web.config to get ASP.NET Ajax to work. I'd advise you to wait until 4.5 is release. This will include all the necessary wiring for DNN to allow your module to use ASP.NET Ajax.

Thanks Peter,

I suspected that was the case...... So I guess the obvious question is: When is 4.5 coming out? :)

The other question is:: I assume there has been some discussion of this, but I don't see where that took place.

regards,
Duncan.

I believe the 4.5 release will be out very soon.  It was delayed by some unexpected setbacks while dogfooding on the DotNetNuke site.

I would take a look at Michael Washington's latest blogs.  He has been covering AJAX, and has project you can download called IWeb that is a good starting point.

By the time you have fully reviewed these 4.5 may be out.

Vladan Strigo posted a step by step tutorial with downloadable files for AJAX enabling an existing DNN4 install here

But I would probably wait for 4.5 at this point as well.  They were hinting at a release date this week.  What Vladan did is not a hack, but since 4.5 will support it in the core, probably better to wait.
