Is there any way I can sign up to be notified by email that a project module has completed the release process? I think that there is a big need in DNN to allow users to sign up to be notified of updates.

I don't think there is a currently a way to sign up for notifications but if you log into your portal with host credentials and go to the Module Definitions page it'll have a big green checkmark beside the core modules that have newer versions.

Thanks Mike, I know about the big green checkmark. That means I have to either keep refreshing the page or keep refreshing the downloads page on DNN - bit clumsy if you ask me.

I really think there should be some kind of notification class in DNN so that modules can use it like they use the Isearchable class. That way users could choose to be emailed when a module has been updated. In this case the module could be the downloads module on the downloads page of www.dotnetnuke.com. If there was such a thing I could check a checkbox in the module header and it would send me an email so I don't have to keep refreshing the page.

I know this isn't the best option either, but they do always announce core module releases in the AnnounceIt! forum.

You could subscribe to that.

Thanks John, yes I could do that but I'd also receive a lot of unwanted emails. I suppose my main point is that there is currently no way to subscribe to module updates.

Why can't modules use the same emailing engine that the forums use for sending out emails to module subscriptions? It seems to me that a very powerful element is missing from the core code.
