I'd start by doing a bit of research....

A good place to start would be the About page here on DotNetNuke.com

I would caveat number 3 and 4.  You can use SQL Express, which is free, without needing an alternate provider.  For many small sites, or for someone just learning, this is more than sufficient.

Your right, but there is one thing that has never been clear to me...(and I know it's difficult to answer, since it depends on hardware, kind of site etc...)

There are occasionally posts about running a production server on SQL express, but every time anybody mentions this somebody jumps in to say not to do this...

Do you have any idea what kind of load a DNN site running on SQL express could handle?

Has anyone ever tested this?
