I thought ask a quesiton that isn't specific a DNN vs Drupal but more of I found a site that is using Drupal and I was wondering if I DNN could do same of the same functions.  The site is called Teamsugar (www.teamsugar.com) and they are current using version 4.7 of Drupal.  This site is focused around community with the audience mostily encompassing women.  I especially like the users functions where someone can bookmark a site and have it appear on the Teamsugar site (check this link out http://geeksugar.com/83306).  Is it possible to build a site like this using DNN?  Are the ready made modules that support a lot of this functionality?

I have spent a lot of time working on the joomla platform and wanted to find something a bit more feature rich.  Thanks in advance for you response.

DNN is more resource hungry than Drupal much of which is simply due to Windows .vs. Unix (linux). ASP is not as efficient as say PHP, Java etc. but at the sametime it effectively really can yield more power to a web application. There are many commercial applications taking good advantage of ASP.NET in exceptional applications that are client/server based. IMHO its where the Microsoft programming solutions really shine... The ability to create excellent applications that are client/server based.

Drupal is a VERY efficient beast, Amazon.com uses Drupal for example for a variety of content management. DNN really is not a content managment system though the lines between portals/cms's seems to get more gray every 6 months.

Joomla is again very efficient, has just heap's and gob's of components and mambots.

While the site you note could be done in DNN with various modules and perhaps a bit of custom stuff you are better off IMHO with a CMS be that Drupal, Mambo or others. You might want check out PHPNuke as well as it has a great deal more support.

Thanks for your response, those were kind of my thoughts too though I was hoping there might be a boxed solution from DNN.
