I am working on a web site that maintains time management data.  On a web page that maintains time hourly data,  if you modify the data and then save it and then press the Browser BACK button, you get the following warning:

Warning: Page has expired.

The page you requested was created using information you submitted in a form.  This page is no longer available.  as a security precaution, IE does not automatically resubmit your information for you.

To resbumit your information, and view this Web page, click the refresh button.

My questions are:  Why is this occurring and how do I stop it from appearing.

Any help appreciated.  Tom B

Short form: It's asp.net and you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get it working any other way.

Long winded answer: I've got too much work to do to go into the discussion this morning but there are blog posts and forum posts all over google discussing this topic at length.

Hockey88puck:

I don't know what is the specific solution that Chris is talking about (and he is certainly more knowledgeable about this than I am) but in general, you don't want to use the Back button for navigation in dynamic Web pages.  This applies to any backend technology, not only ASP.Net.  The DNN module in question, did you write it?  I always try to have navigation buttons in my modules to Save, Cancel, Restart, Add Another Record, etc.  That to me is mandatory as I want to tell the users to NEVER use the back button to navigate my apps.

Therefore, my recommendation is to add a button to "cleanly" send the user to the page they need to be.  Try to make the navigation from within the module so that the user never has to use the back button.

Carlos
