Hi,

I have DNN 4.5.3 installed on a Windows 2000 Server box running SQL Server Express, the other day the portals just stopped responding, after playing about, clearing logs etc they came back up and were fine for a few days, now it happened again last night but for the life of me I could not get them back up, so i test installed it again and got a test portal up, but ten realised that i had installed in the existing database.

Now my host portal has gone and the default dotnetnuke portal comes up instead, but not only that my other portals (6 of) will not work, upon checking the database i can see all the alias records are there & all other user details etc, but the portals will not work.

Can someone point me in the correct direction to recover my other portals?

Cheers

Dan

are all portal data still in the database? check out tabs and modules tables, they should have a number of entries not only for sytem modules, otherwise you might have deleted your portal and need to restore a backup.

Hi leupold,
Yes the portal data still in the portal tables & portal alias tables, will have to check out the tabs & modules tables but from what I can remember from 4am this morning they are still there.

When an installation completes does it use a new Application ID , if so is this used for accessing portals?

Cheers

Dan

no, but it might have generated a new machine key in your web.config, that is used for encryption of passwords, therefore you should restore web.config from a previous backup
