I have just started using DNN so please bare with me and if possible write any replies in simple layman terms so I understand LOL. I am coming across to DNN from Microsft Expression web where I used a gridview and datasource to display data in a table-like fashion. In this gridview were columns and in one of the columns was text that were also hyperlinks to other pages on my site. I want to do this exact same thing in DNN but how?? Do I still need to use MS Expression Web or Visual Web Developer and the like? Or can I do it all in DNN? I'm not sure how the whole database thing works in DNN.... please help!

Welcome to DotNetNuke.

DotNetNuke uses modules for all functionalities, there are ~ 20 modules cominig in the install package (UDT is one of them) and thousands of 3rd party modules. It depends on your use case, which modules to use. UserDefinedTable is a module, that allows you to define a custom table for your site with typed columns, that can be numbers, dates or links. To create your own table, place the module onto a page, go to Manage Tabe and add all the columns you would like. afterwards you can add as many rows as you like, please check out the user manual from the project's download page for details. If you want to access existing data in a SQL table, you need another module (Reports or 3rd party).
