I am not Vietnamese, also part of this community and not really offended by the word Charlie, though I understand why Cuong is. I am offended by the words "Pigeon English doesn't cut it," even though I have a great command of the English language. This forum, and many others I visit, are global in nature. That means English may not be a first, second or even reasonably understood language by the poster. I'm amazed that some posters are even brave enough to try posting when they don't have a great command of the language, and somewhat honored that they think my communication is valuable enough that they'll try using the only language I've ever known.
More than that though, when I look through many of my answers, I assume a certain level of knowledge that may or may not be what the poster has available. I don't mind the "Can you please explain" responses I get when I answer over someone's head. On the other hand though, I probably write 1,500-2,000 words a day on forum posts. That's three or four decent sized technical books a year. I don't always have time to answer with a gramaticaly correct detailed answer. Sometimes I may answer with a link and my name.
But I do realize that some people cannot get by on simple forum posts. I'll try to help, but if they really need a tutorial in something, it's not a forum post answer. They need to buy a book, take some classes and learn the basics before they can understand why I can't answer the question they ask. And for that, I'm sorry Char... Ummm... Chuck!
