I haven't really seen evidence of TRUE workflow. Essentially, what I means is that allow of the workflow solutions involve content changes with their own versions of what would be text/HTML content. However users can effectively end-run the entire process by adding a FAQ module for instance, and bypassing a restriction that would be need to ensure quality control. To me, anyway, workflow has come out as a need to ensure QA.

I really don't understande why they would go to the effort to use a module that was separated from the macro process of editing a site. It seems to me a bit useless if you're allowing content managers the ability to edit ANY kind of content without going through an approval process. I haven't found 1 company who has a solution to this.

I actually like the stuff from Engage, but they mentioned on the phone today that there is workflow so long as you only use their own module. Now I'm not certain I can use DNN at all in order to meet my requirements.

Your impression is correct. DNN is not a CMS... it's very much a framework for managing other applications, such as a CMS. But as you've noted, the existing solutions are limited to those created by specific companies. The benefit of DNN is that the various offerings can have common design and common security. You need to either go with one of the packages offered by companies like Engage, or look at dedicated CMS solutions with the functionality you require.

Enterprise forms (longnhi.com) allows you to use the Enterprise forms workflow engine for the core Text/HTML module as well as for the core Announcements module.

In addition ... you can use it internally in Enterprise forms ...

ROBAX,

I guess that has been the problem. Engage and other companies cannot address the issue. If I purchase and install Engage Publish, and someone tried to add an FAQ module, they're not prevented, end-running completely the secruity/QA you tried to put in place. So my question is, what good is it if it can't regulate content anywhere else in DNN other than it's own module?

Does this mean that I have to uninstall every other module in DNN to ensure a content manager does not try to use it and modify the web site? If I purchase a module by another 3rd party, will it be covered by this product when someone tried to add, edit, or remove it from the DNN website?
