Does anyone know what may be causing a hang up in load time based (www.selectica.com) on a message that comes up in the status bar "Looking for portals"? It seems to hang on this for a second or two in explorer. I also notice that our website www.selectica.com loads so much faster in firefox compared to explorer...any fixes for this?

Hi Alvaro,

This might be a good job for Fiddler.  Load it up and see if you can divine any information about what might be happening.

For the record, I'm not seeing any hang-time in IE when I view the site.  If you're seeing custom text in the status bar of the browser, this must be cause by custom javascript or the homepage_config.swf file.  One of those two beasts will likely be the problem here (and I always suspect the flash).

One trick I sometime use with these classes of problems is to save the generated page as a static html file (in the same directory, so relative references continue to operate) and tweak things until the problem goes away.  I can then focus on this removed item as the source of the problem.

Hope this gets you started!

Brandon

EDIT: I meant to mention, that's a great looking site you have!
