We are in the process of adding a new hosting service – BUT WHAT TO CHOOSE?

We are Site developers, and we do host for our customers, setting up customer portals and point the domains. Many of these portals / sites are “landing type portals, meaning they are very small.

Seems like many host limit this system? Resellers Choice and Webhost 4-life seem to have limits of 5 and 8 domains?

How much do we need to pay for descent hosting?

Olle..

I have a related query. I am looking for a decent affordable ASP.NET 3.5 and Sql Server 2005 backed hosting.

Can somebosy suggest me ggo options. I found http://www.appliedi.net/shared-hosting/ and http://seekdotnet.com/ attractive. Somebody has used them with DNN???

I would say that it really comes down to what your DNN installations require in terms of performance and reliability.  At PowerDNN we generally run all DNN installations in a very low density environment to improve reliability, on top of running nightly database optimizations.  I know at GoDaddy and WH4L they are a little less expensive, but require a little more out of the customer because they are not as support oriented, nor are they really targetted at business class web sites.  I am not saying that one model is better than the other, it really comes down to you deciding what you really want out of your host.

Also, at PowerDNN we do allow an unlimited number of domains on however many installs your plan allows.

I am almost having a go at GoDaddy's Deluxe plan. Has anybody used it with DNN (and ASP.NET 3.5) before???

I have a couple of test sites on GoDaddy, and I keep reading about problems achieving good search engine rankings due to their refusal to install DNN in the root.  You might want to read all those posts first.  One of my sites (hand tooled in HTML) has been on the first page of Google for ten years, and I'm, frankly, afraid to push the 'deploy' button.  A lot of my search engine tricks won't work on DNN, since except for metatags, there's no ability to control the early page data, which is another reason for me to hesitate.
