I am hosting with Re-Invent Hosting and have 875 MB Server Space and 175 MB Database space.

I’m currently use less that 100MB Server space and 135 MB database space.

Is it normal that DNN is “eating Database space??

When I’m looking at alternative hosting I find it quite hard to find database space displayed in specifications.

On this particular hosting I have 5 pointed domains on individual portals, and 6 sub-domains on individual portals. Consequently I can have 50 domains on a descent hosting – problem is that Resellers Choice want $80.00 per month – and Hosting for life wants $1.25 per domain above eight.

How does other small web developer solve this problem?

Cheers

A far as is it normal for dnn to eat database space, I think it depends on how you use dnn until recently out disk space was below 1 GB and database wise we exceeded a 1.2 GB 2 reason 1 I need to to ensure the transaction log was being truncated and also some poorly written 3rd party modules would casue exceptions causing the database to grow. I would like to point out that the system has since been equalised with 2.5 GB in the server storage and 882 MB in the database.

As far as how to deal with the costs of the domains I would suggest that you passon any addtional costs you start to incur to new clients adding $15 a year as hosting charge into your quotes for new clients really shouldn't cause too much of an outcry.

Just a thought

Try looking in your event log. There may be a huge bloated surprise waiting for you in there that you can delete. Also empty the recycling bin and make sure your scheduler history is purging. I wish someone would write a module to help you deal with database bloat from log files.

thanks,

Will Sugg
