I have no experience with this product however I'm not surprised when I hear....

I did so and discovered my forum thread was deleted within hours.  It exposed a flaw with DNN integration with a security related side effect.

If somebody here in these forums exposed a security flaw it would likely possibly be deleted and the issue logged elsewhere away from public view, this makes sense because you don't want people to exploit it until at least the issue is fixed. All security issues here should be reported to security@dotnetnuke.com, although this is a third party issue so that's not apt in this case.

I'm just making a comment on this bit.

Status Update.

I sent another email to the ASPDNSF support asking for help.  George emailed me directly at my personal address.  He is correct that he had sent us two follow support responses - I found them in my spam folder.  He is also correct that we were offered additional support with upgrades.  He expressed a sincere interest in helping us get ASPDNSF to work.  As I really want our implementation of this product to succeed, I am much more hopeful that things will work out.

Comments
- the auto-responses were due to a third party in the CC field
- the "20 additional 3rd party modules" are really only DNN defaul core products and the 10 3rd party products noted below (some of these have several helper modules that can make the count seem higher).  I don't see any reason for any of these products to interfer with Storefront.  If anyone else thinks they might, please let me know which products and why they would interfer.

Active Forums - very popular forum application
Child Links - innocuous
ContentRotator - innocuous
DigRotate - innocuous
DNNMasters_MMS_PRO - used to import users and roles.  Rarely used.
Evotiva.BackupScript - used to backup website.  Rarely used.
News Articles - very popular CMS module.  Not known to cause any conflicts
OpenSearch - popular spider search engine
XMod - advanced form builder
URL rewriter - On the ASPDNSF forums and on the URL rewriter forums, this product is a presented as working with ASPDNSF.  On our site, we have completely disable URL rewriting for all ASPDNSF pages in our effort to get ASPDNSF working and to remove all possible conflicts.

Wish us luck.

Thanks,
Chris

Chris, I'd be interested in how well things go.... and how LONG it'll take!  I've worked with George before and can say he's probably the most competent one.  He's knows the system well, and can figure most of it out - he's definately the one you want working on your stuff!!!... BUT... my experience is still a massive roller coaster.  And George had our project dumped on him after ASPDNSF let the developer go who was working on our stuff.... and poor George had to start over from scratch on a project that was almost complete, but ASPDNSF had no documents, specs, or prior source code left over from the past developer.  So my understanding goes out to him - having to take over and redo someone elses mistake.  Doesn't put a developer in the right state of mind.  But regardless, we had a project we were waiting for.

Now their latest complaint is that we changed scope from our original agreement (the one they lost and I spent the next month trying to reiterate a project that was already 10 months past) -- and yes, I did... BUT I removed MORE from the scope than I added, and the additions were pretty minor - very similar to functionality already included.  And FYI - yes, I'm a developer too... so I completly understand and avoid scope creep - I can honestly say I feel the project became easier than what we originally requested.

And now they're trying to push us off onto Vortx --- their chosen company to keep updates and custom fixes - I've got no real experience with them, and likely won't after a request for quote came back at over $4,000.  I almost dropped one in my shorts!!  I don't recall what the request was exactly - but I didn't want to spend 2 days figuring it out and doing it.  At a price like that - I really begin to think my company missed the boat and are charging way to little - like my resume could says "I make hmtl websites in MS Word" --- (and yes, I spelt html wrong on purpose)

But - to a great question ---- what is a good alternative?  I know alot of people buy Catalook , and their suipport is pretty good, but I feel it's much too clunky (especially admin) for a normal Client (shop owner) to use and run.

I'm at the point where I cringe when I hear a new project coming down is "e-commerce".....  shudder at the thought!!

How about getting a non DNN based eCommerce system and hook it to your DNN site?

For now, just hooking into the thread so I can get back to it. I'll add value to the thread soon.
