I switched to 3essentials very recently. 3 DNN low traffic websites in shared DNN plans.

My downtime is zero and that is good. The support is good and withing 1-2 hours.

They use Plesk and Plesk is nothing to write home about. The websites are in general reasonably fast but sometimes are slow.

Until now i have found only one thing i don't like in their services, they don't allow Backup and Restore of your databases. You need to open a ticket for each request of backup and restore. And since we need to update at least once a month and also try various new modules, i miss the ability to make backup and restore myself whenever i want.

I have used webhost4life and PowerDNN.  PowerDNN is great but a bit pricer (you get what you pay for).

Webhost4life really did a horrible job during the migration so after weeks of downtime I finally moved my site to PowerDNN. I kept the webhost4life account to use as a sort of staging environment, and wh4life seems to have shaken out their issue and is runningok as long as you dont need any technical support(almost like talking to morons that answer questions you didnt ask and dont answer the ones you did ask).  In addition their site seems to run ASP apps slow.

One more thing... if you do webhost4life, do not use their installation script for DNN.  Just download the latest installation from codeplex and manually install it.  The w4life install is horribly misconfigured and rife with errors.  Your site will never be good even after upgrades.

I can second that. I ran thier installer to install my second site as I was unable to run the manual install (due to permission errors) it never worked and when I did core modules were missing!!!!

I complained and after a long time of writing I get permissions sorted and was anble to run a manual install. ASP sites do run slow with them. Talking from experience with WH4L I would aviod at all costs.

Just to clarify my position... run away from Webhost4life. Pay a bit extra and get powerdnn.

Hi Costas,

Plesk is very Powerful Control Panel and allows you to do Full Backup / Restore of your website including database, it's just the matter of two Check boxes needs to be checked in your client account. Submit a ticket agian, hopefully they will do it for you. Good Luck.
