Hi,

I'm in the process of getting a hosting company for my DNN3 project. I've skimmed through various posts on this site (and others) to get a better feel for who to stay away from. Other than PowerDNN and ASP.NET, can anyone recommend an "affordable" and great host? I recently visited gate.com. Does anyone have experience with them?

Any feedback would be MUCH appreciated!

Thanks,
--Jakob

Hey Jakob,
There are a number of hosts out there that specialize in different things.  What is "affordable" to you?  Are you looking for low cost (www.DNN4Free.com) or high speed and reliability (www.PowerDNN.com)

I do work for PowerDNN so my view of them may be a little skewed, but if you ask around on the forums, you'll find that pretty much anyone who has used us recommends us.  We are a little more expensive but we really focus on having high quality services as well as excellent customer support (we acutally give customers our cell numbers so they can call us directly if they ever have an issue).

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that PowerDNN appears to be at the top of the list of highly recommended hosts. I do have some specific "growth" questions  - maybe best suited for off-line? Feel free to respond to me at jaycupw@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

I can vouch for PowerDNN.

Top notch reliability, speed and technical support. Second to none in DNN hosting.

MaximumASP

I don't know what you consider affordable however I use MaximumASP's dedicated server B200 plan ($299/month) with the optional SQL Server 2000 Workgroup license ($75/month).

I run DNN 3.1.1 (the most stable version that i have come across) with mulitiple (10) portals.

The speed off my DNN portals is amazing - even under heavy traffic loads. The server has dual xeon + a gig of ram.

MaximumASP will not fail you. I'm sure the folks at PowerDNN feel the same way, but I'm hooked on how fast MaximumASP resolves issues. They also have a MINT datacentre with sophisticated intrusion detection systems.

Only my satisfaction with MaximumASP, has prevented me from investigating the services of PowerDNN. If they had comparable dedicated server plans similar to the business series or even enterprise range of dedicated servers that maximumasp offers, perhaps I would consider them.

I, nor my clients can afford to be left alone when things go wrong. I feel 100% safe and secure with MaximumASP based on my experiences with them.

Dotnetnuke itself uses MaximumASP.
