I upgraded my site to DNN 5.0 and ran into a problem with the login module.  From what I read, it seemed to be an issue with the Authentication types.  So I unchecked the 'open id ' and 'live id'  authentication modes and then clikced 'uninstall'.  I then received a message that the uninstall failed.  Now I cannot log in to the system.  I get the message:

  A critical error has occurred.
Parameter count does not match Parameter Value count.

How can I fix this?

I had a similar problem with my login after upgrade.

The solution I had for this problem was, after some testing:

1. backup my webconfig from the site

2. take the install-package, remove the web.config  from it, and put it into a safe place for use in point 3, and copy the rest over my installation

3. take the machinekeys, decryptionkeys and connectionstrings and ObjectQualifier (if it was used= from the old web.config and put into the 5.0.0 web.config, and upload it.

I have 2 separate installations where I have done this and it worked so far... :-)

Ok, I'll try that.  Do you know why this occurred and if there is a way to avoid it on our LIVE install (I'm testing on my DEV server first).

Thanks!

Hi Patrick,

This error hints that your database is in an inconsistent state, likely due to the failed provider uninstall.  I would recommend restoring your site using the most recent backup and proceeding from there.

If for some reason that you do not have a current backup, you might make some progress using a SQL profiler and determining exactly which stored procedure is failing (and manually rectifying), but this will quickly become an advanced debugging task.

Hope this gets you started!

Brandon,

Thanks for your advice.

I'll give that a try.  But I'm not sure it's going to fix the issue.  We went ahead and tried the install on our Production site, under the theory that you suggest.  We thought that if the dev server was just corrupted due to the uninstall, perhaps it would work in the production environment.

So we backed up production (on which we had NOT tried to uninstall the authentication modules) and ran the upgrade and the same error occurred.  So it's something else.  (We then restored production and I'm now looking for a solution to this issue.)

If you have any other thoughts, I'd be most appreciative!
