I need to maintain old links.  For example...when someone on clicks on a link he added to his blogspot blog, DNN needs to understand it.  So in a blog entry he has something like http://mysebsite.com/whatever.html  this link needs to be recognized by DNN.

There are plenty of rewrite modules and options for this.  Best might be a custom 404 error page that gives the user the option to search your new site.

More as a reference to future searches, Jason's requirement can be (and has been?) fulfilled with the iFinity Url Master module.

I believe he found the answer in this thread:

http://www.ifinity.com.au/Products/Support_Forums/forumid/8/threadid/2134/scope/posts/

It discusses how to set up your DNN site to run with .html extensions  You can do this either to maintain the existing html urls, or to transition the html urls over to the .aspx  (or another) extension.

There's nothing magic about the .aspx extension : it's just the extension Microsoft chose to associate asp.net applications with.  You can easily change this for any asp.net website, DNN included.  You just need to have a Url scheme in place that is flexible on the extension that it runs under.  The Url Master module does this for DNN.
