How do I get DNN to understand a page with an .html extension.   Why?  Well I am migrating a site that was built with old software and that software saved all of the files as .html pages.  DNN uses .aspx.  How to I get DNN to work with the .html extension.

DNN requires .aspx to get the page built dynamically from modules according to the current user's permissions.

If you want to migrate existing pages, you need to create a page in DNN, place a text/HTML module on it, go to edit content and paste existing HTML code. The menu will be built automatically. To adopt DNN to your look and feel, you need to apply an appropriate Skin.

I need to maintain old links.  For example...when someone on clicks on a link he added to his blogspot blog, DNN needs to understand it.  So in a blog entry he has something like http://mysebsite.com/whatever.html  this link needs to be recognized by DNN.

I think what you need to do is, You have map old URLs with New URLs, Once you have all mapping, write a code which redirects user to the new URL if he is looking for OLD URL. If I understood correctly your requirement  then I can provide more details about implementation.

I don't see a chance to preserve automatically exisiting links, except you maintain all files in the same folder structure, until all links are updated. if you move all page content into Text/HTML modules, Engage Modules has a free tool to perform a portalwide search & replace, you might find useful.
