Hi

I've only got 1 portal and approximately 300 tabs. Almost every tab has a single module on it.  Each tab takes 45 seconds or more to load. I put a trace on the DB and for each tab click there's approximately 1800 queries being sent to the DB. The queries seem to repeat themselves as follows (this is from the trace):

SELECT * FROM dbo.vw_TabPermissions TP WHERE  PortalID = @PortalID OR (PortalId IS NULL AND @PortalID IS NULL)
exec dbo.GetTabPermissionsByPortal @PortalID=0
exec sp_reset_connection

I'm running DNN 4.08.02

The more tabs I've added, the worse the problem has become.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

please check out your host settings. Make sure, caching is turned on - I always prefer to switch to heavy caching to reduce the numbers of database calls.

How many roles do you have, how many users?

Besides, due to security issues, I strongly suggest to upgrade to latest version, DNN 4.9.3. Upgrade shall be staight forward:

  • Download upgrade package
  • Backup your files and database
  • unzip package into your install directory hiearchically
  • call your site - if you turned off autoupgrade in web.config, you need to browse to /install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade
  • install upgrades module version in Host :: Module definitions, they are listed at the bottom of the page.

:)

Wow. What a difference caching makes. I didn`t even know there was a setting for this. Tks Sebastian. You`re a lifesaver.
