Hi,
I have DNN 5.1 installed on my  machine.

I am getting url like.
http://localhost/SearchResults/tabid/129/SearchTerm/cat/Default.aspx

But I requried it in  following format by removing tabid and portalid from url like :
http://localhost/SearchResults/Default.aspx

Can anyone please suggest how to implement this in DNN?

Please Help.

You will want to take a look at UrlMaster by Ifinity.com.au.

It provides URL's similar to what you are looking for.

Be aware, also, that Ifinity offers a free FriendlyURL provider that should give you the URL results you want.  I've used it countless times with great satisfaction.

URLMaster does the same as FriendlyURL and much, much, much more -- it's a great tool -but- some features require you to have control over your http server in order to use them (usually you don't have such control in a shared-hosting environment).

Thanks mamlin and Mitchel for the recommendations to use my software, I really appreciate when other people are happy with the solutions.

Just to clear up a couple of points:

- by default both the Friendly Url Provider and Url Master leave the SearchResults tab generating 'base' friendly urls (including the tabid).  You can switch this off in the settings, but you'll need to test to make sure it is working as expected.  However, it won't be a totally clean /searchresults.aspx url : you'll still need some of the portions of the url to generate the search.  You will be able to remove the tabid/ portalid from the url, however.

- Url Master only needs special access if you want to switch off the .aspx extensions : which is the same for the Frienldy Url Provider as well.  You don't need special access to your hosting environment to use 99% of the features, and Url Master will run just fine on shared hosting platforms.

Hi

I have downloaded lateste iFinity Friendly url provider from
http://www.ifinity.com.au/Products/Friendly_Url_Provider_For_DNN/
for my Dotnetnuke 5.1.

I have perform following steps.

1.I copied my iFinity dll to
to the /bin directory

2.After that I replace my web.config 's URLRewrite

<add name="UrlRewrite" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UrlRewriteModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.UrlRewrite"/>

by following

<add name="UrlRewrite" type="iFinity.DNN.Modules.FriendlyUrl.UrlRewriteModule, iFinity.FriendlyUrlProvider"/>

3.After I added following entry in existing "friendlyUrl" provider section.
<add name="iFinity.FriendlyUrl" type="iFinity.DNN.Modules.FriendlyUrl.DNNFriendlyUrlProvider, iFinity.FriendlyUrlProvider" includePageName="true" regexMatch="[^\+a-zA-Z0-9 _-]" urlformat="HumanFriendly" redirectUnfriendly="true" doNotRedirect="SearchResults;" checkForDupUrls="true" forceLowerCase="false" redirectWrongCase="false" replaceSpaceWith="_" logCacheMessages="false"/>

Then I Changed the entry for <friendlyUrl defaultProvider="DNNFriendlyUrl"> to <friendlyUrl defaultProvider="iFinity.FriendlyUrl">

4.After these settings I go to my home page and clicked login. Then it redirected me to
http://toon/dnn/Home/ctl/Login.aspx?returnurl=%2fdnn%2fDefault.aspx

And  error message was The resource cannot be found.

Can you please tell am I missing any settings?

Thanks,
Ashish Shukla
