Hello,

I am uploading a number of large-ish (10-50MB) flv video files to my DNN 04.09.00 application. Because of the way my Flash video player is set to play videos linked in a sidebar menu, each video file link must have a MediaFileId number form the dbo.Files table; i.e. each link looks somewhat like this:

href="default.aspx?MediaFileId=157"

So, I have to make sure that these files are all recorded in the dbo.Files table so that they are assigned MediaFileID numbers (I think the table itself just calls this PK field the "FileID". It would be faster to upload the files using FTP than the DNN file manager, but if I do that, the dbo.File table won't record them, correct? However, loading each file individually using the DNN file manager's upload function takes a very long time. Is there some way that FTP file uploads can be given spots on the dbo.Files table?

I have searched for documentation on the "Synchronize Files" function, to see if that would do it, but to no avail as yet.

Thank you for any advice!

Aha! I did a "Synchronize Files" with "Recursive" checked, and this seems to have ferreted out all new files on the portal and added them to dbo.Files... I think I may be all set now.

Thank you!

as long as you don't create/rename or delete folders, auto file sync (option in host settings) will sync the any folder content, when selected in DNN UrlControl.
