The latest generation of WYSIWYG editor is available at http://ckeditor.com/

I'd love to see it as the new default editor for DNN 5.1.2

I put a request into gemini.

I am sure, the fckeditor provider team is already preparing integration and making all new features available in dotnetnuke - but I asume, this will not make it into DNN 5.1.x, also, there might be needs to enhance the provider interface within the core, which requires additional coordination.

Would it not make more sense to use the ASP.NET ToolKit HtmlEditor as the deafult?

Probably not right now as it means throwing in an extra dll  - plus the ASP,NET AJAX toolkit dll's always seem to have backwards compatibility problems (and we risk breaking third party modules that use this toolkit).
