I just installed dnn4 on my win xp with vb web express and sql server xpress and its very slow just viewing the web pages and editing web pages.  any tips on making things faster and would I have the same problem going live with a web hosting provider?

What hardware are you running on? DNN demands a lot of ram memory..with win xp i would recommend at least 1.5gig ram. It will probably go faster with the web hosting provider.

I got a p4 2Ghz with 512k ram. looks like I should increase my ram.

 

another newbie question.  Do I have to start up the web site from visual studio web express or can I start it up from IE directly by typing in a url?
