I have a question about SEO and that relates to DNN URL writing. One of our consultant suggests that as DNN can accept two url pages for ex:
/SERVICES/RetailSolutions.aspx
/SERVICES/RetailSolutions/tabid/66/Default.aspx

He told us that this will be bad for SEO, as google see that as a duplicate page, is this completely true and how bad is it for SEO?
I hope SEO expert can share their opinion in here..

Andy, your expert is true and you should stick with a single link type on all pages, the same as used in the menus and submit the sitemap.aspx to the search crawler. The best solution I know of is using UrlMaster from Ifinity.com.au, which provides proper redirects.

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for the advice. I know that you clearly stated that ifinity module will perform the redirect, I just curious will it do permanent redirect from /SERVICES/RetailSolutions/tabid/66/Default.aspx to /SERVICES/RetailSolutions.aspx.
Can have this option for the next release as it will be awesome, Kentico CMS, Joomla, and other CMS has this feature by default, we hope DNN will be able to achieve the same thing as well ;-)

How about in edit mode for ex: /SERVICES/RetailSolutions/tabid/66/ctl/Edit/mid/378/Default.aspx
Will it effect the result?

Andy, AFAIK UrlMaster does solve a number of issues, at least adds (upon your configuration) permanent redirects for all page URL alternatives. Edit links might not be a big problem, because usually they should not be exposed to unauthenticated users, including crawlers.
