Hello Kinda new to the whole DotNetNuke set up, I'm first and foremost a web designer and as someone that spends a lot of time thinking about the front end look, feel, and fucntionality of a site I'm interested to know how well DotNetNuke supports the W3C standards (specifically XHTML stirct), can anyone shed some light on this and how well supported it is in the current version of DDN. Just a bit concerned as I ran the front page of this site through a validator and it didn't even manage to successful validate as HTML transitional. Will future releases of DDN seek to meet with the demands of XHTML strict?

I tried to validate a DNN site before using the w3c validation service and it gave me 208 errors in the home page alone.

It will be great if this can be fixed in the future.

If you carefully control all the modules you can get dnn to validate. sometimes you need to modify an excisting or 3rd part module in order to use this

http://schwingsoft.04.websecurestores.com/default.aspx

my new site tabeleless and validating ( wel 2 super weird errors that i cant explain - so its validating ;) - maybe its something with the viewstate

modifications

modified default.aspx more valid xhtml and transitional doctype

wrote a httpmodule to rewrite all LINK to link ( instead of having to modify the dnn code )

With DNN 3.0 (.Net 1.1) getting DNN to generate valid HTML is futile, since most of the .Net controls do not generate valid HTML.  With DNN 4.0 you should see a big improvement just because of the fact that the .Net controls now generate valid HTML based on what the doctype is set to.  Now that the controls generate valid markup, we can now concentrate on improving the validation for things we do have control over.

** For DNN 4.0  (.Net controls) to generate valid xhtml you will need to change the doctype in the default.aspx.

hi nokiko,

how is your speed with the httpmodule - I've thought of writting a httpmodule to fix all the errors that are making DNN not XHTML valid (there are some tutorials out there which describe all the small XHTML issues of DNN) but:

a) was worried that with highly visited site it could make performance problems

b) didn't have time to do it :(
