Hi everibody,

I am new in this DotNetNuke thing. Now I am trying to create a new skin for my site. I want to put a swf file as banner.  I've seen this idea in some sites, so it can be done. So far I haven;t figured out how.

Thanks for your support

I just posted how I added flash to my dnn site here: http://dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/118/threadid/68497/scope/posts/Default.aspx. Good luck!

Hello rosuml

Have your tried inserting the flash swf file directly into the skin using Dreamweaver?

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" width="994" height="607" title="Test">
  <param name="movie" value="TEST_video1.swf">
  <param name="quality" value="high">
  <embed src="TEST_video1.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="
http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="994" height="607"></embed>
</object>

But then you will need to insert <%= SkinPath %> just after the src=" as you would if you inserted an image into your skin, to enable it to be viewed on line. So then it would like this.

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" width="994" height="607" title="Test">
  <param name="movie" value="TEST_video1.swf">
  <param name="quality" value="high">
  <embed src="<%=SkinPath %>TEST_video1.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="
http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="994" height="607"></embed>
</object>

Good luck.

Lynn

Thanks, it really helped.

Here is what I have done... I have created a new ascx module in "\dotNetNuke\admin\Skins\". This is the container for my .swf  file. I added a new skin that uses this new ascx module, not before I added this module in the database (the "ModuleControls" table).

I am not sure if this is the best way because the .swf is displayed in the home page, but when I navigate inside the portal it vanishes. This could be just a path problem, but I think the swf file should not be reloaded.

Please advise me in this problem

Thanks
