I'm having an issue with the RSS of the announcements Module

check this:

http://test.mednetone.net/Newsroom/tabid/75/moduleid/431/RSS.aspx

and look at this

http://test.mednetone.net/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx

http://test.mednetone.net/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx

They should reflect the same information. But the information is not consistent and I can't seem to find the information at all so in other words It's not there! The test announcement is no where to be found in the announcement Module. However it's everywere else... Please help!

Searching is enabled and chaching clears every 30 minutes and Syndicate is obviously enabled on the module.

Thanks in advance!

You mean the second announcement is not in the module?

Well Check the Rss and you'll see that the TEST announement is still there... although it doesn't show in the actual announcement module! only in the RSS which of course shows up in the newsfeed module..

OK, So if I understand correctly, the home page has a feed and this feed is outdated. Which actually means the RSS feed is outdated. As Announcements only implements the core functionality for RSS, which in turn uses Search. I suspect that this has more to do with a problem in that area and not in Announcements.

Having said that, I suggest you explore caching for the module that is generating the RSS feed.

please remember the following:

  • the announcements module uses the core RSS feature
  • the core RSS feature uses the search index to get the RSS items to display

this leads to the following "features" of any module that uses the core RSS feature:

  • little to no control over what items will end up in the rss feed
  • rss feed only works if search indexer is not disabled
  • rss feeds are cached for 60 seconds
  • everything that is is the search index will display in the feed

One possible cause of your issue is that you disabled the search indexer somehow. Doing that will have the effect that the index is no longer updated, and that consequently the rss feed is no longer updated either. One thing you might try is a force reindex of the search index (host > search )
