After upgrading to 4.5.1 with the new In-Line editing and FCKEditor for the HTML window I am having constant editing problems.  It seems that everytime I open the editor, make changes and save them I have multiple EXTRA LINES between text blocks.  I can then use the In-line editor function to take them out but that is a pain.

In addition I have several times now I have found text missing from the body of my text that I had thought that I had mistakenly deleted ... at the bottom of the the entire document.

Everytime I try to Paste text into the window it asks me twice if I want to allow it.

Yes, the editor looks and acts great, but I am having to do and redo and then double check every time now.  Does anyone else have these problems?  Is there a way around it?

I have not messed with CSS or anything else.  What can I do?

Thanks,

Mike

Can you give us the steps to reproduce this. I just tried it a found a normal behavior.

This is a security feature from the browser you are using (IE7 has a similar feature). We cannot do anything about this.

If anything is possible to do to solve issues then you can count with us to try to solve them. But we need to be able to reproduce them first to initiate a trace.

Thanks for the reply Locopon,

While I am new to DNN I have been a IS developer and project manager for 35 years.  Reproducing the error is important we all know about the programmers lament of "It works on my machine."  I have been that guy many times.

I would be glad to set you up a test account for you to look at my installation.  One circumstance that might have some effect on my installation is that I did use FCKEditor for a time but found a variety small problems.  When my webhost (PowerDNN) upgraded me to 4.4 I left the the default editor and it has worked fine ever since.

I am wondering if, when the 4.5.1 was released if I had some older formated "FCKEditor" stuff hanging out that has coorupted it's default behavior.  Other than that I have had PowerDNN do all of my installations and have not messed with anything.

In the following post robax mentioned a process of setting up FCKEditor.  Would you recommend me to follow that process to set global settings?

I'm betting you run OSX Firefox or something similar when editing copy?

I think I remember Firefox not coding a hard-return as a paragraph, but as a line break.

Couple that with a new behavior I've noticed on Vista IE where if a block of copy doesn't have any tags, it wraps them in paragraph tags. My workaround has been to edit the paragraph tags out when in html view and update/save the changes while remaining in html view.

I wonder if what you see as Fck inserting extra lines is actually it wrapping your stuff in paragraph tags, so it looks like it's inserting extra lines?

Good guess but I am completely Microsoft IE7.

My work around is to copy the text after editeding it in the FCKEditor window.  Then I save it.  It is often corrupted at that point and shows with the behaviors I have described.  If I click the pencil to do in-place editing I can Select, delete and then replace with the text I copied from the FCKEditor and it works GREAT.  However it is a pain and should be unnecessary.

Thanks,

Mike
