After an upgrade to DNN 4.9 we got an error message when the FCK editor first loads:

unknown toolbar item "UniversalKey"

To fix it open up:

/Providers/HtmlEditorProviders/Fck/Custom/fckconfigsecure.js

Do a search for:

,'UniversalKey'

And delete the 3 occurrences on lines 89, 106 & 119.

Hope this helps fellow DNN upgraders :)

please check your install and make sure you have delete permissions -as part of the 4.9 install Portals\_default\04.09.00.txt will automatically delete a number of files such as

Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FCKeditor\editor\dialog\fck_universalkey.html

Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FCKeditor\editor\dialog\fck_universalkey\data.js
Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FCKeditor\editor\dialog\fck_universalkey\dialogue.js
Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FCKeditor\editor\dialog\fck_universalkey\00.gif
Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FCKeditor\editor\dialog\fck_universalkey\diacritic.js
Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FCKeditor\editor\dialog\fck_universalkey\multihexa.js
Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FCKeditor\editor\dialog\fck_universalkey\fck_universalkey.css

this ensures that fck works correctly by removing the universalkey dependency.

Yes, the site had full delete permissions & yes all the files mentioned above have been deleted.

Not sure why we got the above error - but the fix above worked for us :)

All toolbars are missing in my fckeditor. I tried your workaround with no luck.

please try pressing CTRL+F5 just in case the old javascript is being cached somewhere - you may also want to try clearing your temporary internet files.
