hai,

when iam uploading a document (using documents module or repository module),iam not able to understand where the actual content is stored.

i have checked with the database structures for both the documents and the repository but i couldnot find where the actual content of the document is stored?

is there any way that i could store the document content inside the default database provided by DNN instead of creating my own database structure ?

thanx

praveen.

In the File Manager you can create secure areas in your install for storing files.  It could be a secure folder on the web server (not browsable), or a virtual folder which actually stores the files inside the database.  Storing files inside the dB is generally not recommended as there may be performance concerns.

thanx for the reply, but how could i know where my documents are stored inside the database.

i want to know the exact tablename and one more thing is

how could i check that my repository is using database for storing the documents and not the filesystem.

in the Admin---->File Manager --->Folders---->i have selected Secure Database system and iam updating that.

after doing this if i upload a document using documents module or repository module, and comeback again to filemanager properties in the Folders it is reverting back toStandard File System.

what could be the problem?i know that iam going wrong somewhere.

thanx and regards,

Praveen.

Did you create a new folder with "Secure Database" checked?  If so, when uploading files to this new folder in the Documents module you should see a lock icon next to the folder location dropdown indicating a secure folder.

In the Repository, when logged in as host you can specifiy the path where it will store files.  If this path points to your secure database folder I guess that means they would be stored in the database.  I have not tried it as it is my preference to not store files inside a database.

If you explore the database you will see that the Documents and Repository modules have their own tables they use.  That would be a good place to start looking for your data.  You could also explore the web server folders via FTP to see where files are located.
