I have a DNN site which was installed at 05.06.02.
I have just installed the document module (Documents_04.01.01_Install.zip) from your website http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ExtensionsForge/ModuleDocuments/tabid/826/Default.aspx on a page for the first time and I get error
'Error: Documents is currently unavailable. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Documents.Document.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---'

I tried to reinstall documents module but it still not working.
Is there any way to resolve this problem.

Please help.
Thanks

At this point the only easy way to do this is to do the following.

1.) Uninstall the version that you have.
2.) Download 04.00.00
3.) You can install and use this version

I have version 05.00.00 in the release tracker now, but it is not quite ready.

Here it is October 18, 2011 and I just got bit by this. Fortunately it was on a test system, not production, but I have to ask, how is it that this problem is STILL out there???

Is there no fix for this problem?

Thanks,
William

Looks like I can answer my own question... Version 5.0.0 of the Documents module is also available - although I could find no description of what the status of this version is here, since I already had a broken Documents module, I downloaded and installed 5.0.0. So far it's working.

I checked both the Forums and Blog and all I can find is "in progress", but it's been posted in the Downloads - anyone care to give us an update on the status?

Thanks,
William

WIlliam,

I am sorry that the information wasn't easy to find.  I blogged about the 05.00.00 release in July in this post

The current version is much more stable than the previous ones, and we are looking at moving forward with the next revision to finalize/resolve the other bugs in the module.
