I have an upgraded 4.3.1 installation with the newest modules installed.  I am able to add documents and view them, however, pdf documents only bring up a blank page.

This started in 4.3.0 and I thought it was related to the permissions issue.  However, after upgrade pdf docs were failing in exactly the same way, nothing but blank page when accessing them.

Tried docs in both the root and subfolders.  Logged in as superuser.  Almost as if it is a mime type issue, but pdf can still be successfully linked to if you use the portal/x/folder/filename.pdf relative mapping.

Could be linked to core security issues, but seems integrated in documents because .doc files work fine.

Hi Mike,

I tested pdfs just now in the documents module, and they worked fine.  The dnn core component that serves up the file uses the content-type from the "Files" table.  Maybe through the process of upgrading, etc, you have a file entry that doesn't contain a content-type.

Can you have a look at the Files table & see if the contenttype field is correct (it should be application/pdf).  Alternatively, try re-uploading the file and see if that helps.

The plot thickens....

One one portal the problem is gone... on another the problem still lurks.  I've compared files and folders, permissions and filenames.  I am sure it is not a fluke but since it works on one portal, it rules out mime types problem.

I did verify the file table record and the type is correct.  Also compared to the files that are working and nothing is out of order.

I see 4.3.2 is out (with 4.3.1 post dates listed) and I assume we will be getting release notes soon.  Does Document have an new version in 4.3.2?  Maybe we need a version matrix that references DNN versions with module versions...

There's a new version of the documents module with DNN 4.3.2, but it doesn't address your problem - excepting that the bit of code that is probably affecting you in this instance is in the core, so any changes made to address this in the core would fix it in the documents module, too...

Are you using HTTP compression? If so did you exclude the proper mime type in your web.config?
