hi,

I am new to dotnetnuke.  I have looked at the documentation. after DNN has been installed . you can create many portals as you like.

for example, http:www.mywebsites.com/Portals1/     http://www.mywebsites.com/Protals2/

my question is , can we use other different domain name(like http:// www.otherwebsites.com/  to point to the portals?

thanks

sure, you can have as many domain names to same portal or multiple portals (each with individual domain name). any Domain name has to point to the IIS web site, where DNN is installed, either by using a single install and IP or host header values.

hi,

Thank you to reply.   I still has question about that.

my installation directory is http:\\localhost\dotnetnuke.   for example, if I want to create a portal( parent portal type. the directory will in in the folder  \Portals\dotnetnuke2  .then I create new virtual directory http://localhost/dotnetnuke2     and set directory point to \Portals\dotnetnuke2\  is that right?

but in the Portals\dotnetnuke2\ this folder, all  the files are image files. dont have some aspx file. so I can not run http://localhost/dotnetnuke2

I want dotnetnuke and dotnetnuke2 websites are totally different.

If u want to create another portal like http://localhost/dotnetnuke2 then it will point to the same directory as the portal 1 is pointing.

both the portals will be differentiated by their skins and containers and the modules .

hope this helps!
