I am currently testing the demo version of DNN professional now, and have no idea where to start. I am currently maintaining a website that I built using Visual Studio 2008, VB.net and Ms Sql Express 2005. I use gridview to populate data and image on any articles posted. Now I am on a new project to develop a website where the editors (journalists) can update articles by themselves, insert a picture or any media which is comparable to that of wordpress. Every article must have a table attached to a database. Can anyone suggest the modules for:

1. with CRUD properties that can embed images and videos (using database/objectdatasource or sqldatasource) with an editor like wordpress.com
2. image transition effects module with thumbnails comparable to http://www.roadandtrack.com

I really need to familiar myself into this CMS before making recommendations to purchase. The company is looking for a way for editors to update things quickly without bothering the web programmers.

Any suggestions and help will be highly appreciated. :)

there are a number of content modules, some support using windows lifewriter and others, especially galleries, supporting image effects. I don't understand, why you need a database table per article? you may checkout Form and Lists module, which allows creating (virtually) a custom table per module instance.

hello Sebastian, thanks for your reply.

I'm trying to familiarize myself with the DNN, but i just don't know how to control the database structure because the hosting company we're dealing with our websites are limiting 100mb/dbase (mssql. If in case it reaches its maximum space i have to create another database with tables in it. They are doing this in order to back-up easily and not so time consuming.

I am trying out DNN because there are many things the editors want to see in their website especially on designing and images gallery, too limited for a coder like me in asp.net, it needs some flash effects. For the meantime, i'll test if DNN will make things possible for my projects. Thanks for your time!
