I am a newbie to web development and DNN.  I took over our church's website and seem to be having some hosting confusion.  The main address works fine:  (www.nampacollegechurch.com).  It just doesn't seem to be "published" correctly.  Sometimes when you search for the website on Google it picks up the main parent host (www.websecurestores.......)and shows the web page through that portal.

When searching on Google it will not come up on the searches at all to direct to the main site (www.mainsite.com).  in fact, it is almost impossible to find on a web search.  What seems to be the problem????  Again, I did not "launch" the website, I just came on mid-way to take over.....  How can we get google searches and the like to point to the main web domain????

Any help would be awesome!

Thanks-

scott

please check out site settings in admin menu of DotNetNuke, and all portal aliases listed in there.

The only problems i see are under "site marketing".  The "sitemap" shows the main parent host "www.websecure........", does that need changed to the main webpage : www.nampacollegechurch.com???  Even so, I cannot change it.  I really need more detailed help here.  Thank you.

If you go to your www.nampacollegechurch.com URL address and use the "view source" option from your browser, all you will see is 1 line of code with an iframe pointing back to the http://collegechurchnampa.41.websecurestores.com/ page. This is why Google has nothing for your site, because this is all it has for your domain.

http://collegechurchnampa.41.websecurestores.com/ is probably the temporary domain created for you when you first signed up wuth them for hosting and initially created the site. My guess would be that your domain www.nampacollegechurch.com is configured incorrectly at your registraar (godaddy.com ?). It looks like it is setup to forward to the ...websecurestores url with masking. Instead, you should have received a couple of nameservers or an ip address from your hosting company which should be changed with your domain registraar instead. I'm sure you could get these again if you do not have them.

As mentioned already, you may or may not have your portal alias configured correctly in DNN also. There should be an entry for www.nampacollegechurch.com.

Once everything is corrected, I always have my hosting company remove the temporary URL (
http://collegechurchnampa.41.websecurestores.com), so there is no chance of duplicate content in the search engines. At this point, some of your site internal links to pages and/or images may need to be corrected.

Great site - shame to waste it on an iframe :-)

If you need more help, let me know how to contact you (or click on my profile in this forum and send me a message).
