Hi Everybody,
I am new to DNN, I installed the community version, but don't know how to add/edit page contents. How do I add text, images, etc. to a page I added. Is the content added through modules only, if so what module do I use for that? As I know with the most CMS(content management systems) you can edit and update content by using WYSIWYG editors, doesn't DNN have that?

Thanks,
Osi.

Hi Osi, welcome to the DNN community. To edit the content of your site, you need to login as Admin or Superuser ("Host") - be aware that DNN supports multiple sites (portals) from a single installation, admins have access to the current site, while superusers have access to all sites and overall configuration. After you logged in successfully, you get displayed the Control panel on the top, where you enter page settings, add modules etc. If you switch from "View" to "Edit" mode, you may also edit content of the modules by using commands or the action menu, which is hidden (usually) behind a small triangle in front of the module title. For Rich Text content, a rich text editor is used, in previous versions this is most successful Open Source FCKEditor, latest version use Telerik RAD.

All content is added through modules, most commonly the HTML module which provides WYSIWYG editing. When logged in as admin user you will see a control panel ribbon bar at the top of the page which among other things allows you to add pages and add modules to the current page. Depending on the number and layout of the "panes" of your site's skin you will be able to add the modules in various areas of the page. Feel free to experiment!

Other modules included in the framework package (for example, the events calendar or discussion forum) are not installed by default. You will need to login as host user then navigate to Host-->Extensions page then select "Install Available Modules" (usually at the bottom right of the page). You can then select which available modules to install. Other modules are available through the DNN Extensions Forge and the DNN Marketplace - click on the large icons at the top of each page of this site and take some time to explore what else is available.
