I have my website (created with asp.net) hosted on GoDaddy, I ran the auto install of the DotNetNuke App on a subdomain/subfolder of my root folder. I know that you cannot have two web.config files so i tried merging the two but that didnt work. My IIS is setup for ASP.Net 4.0.

What can be the problem? Any other information you need I can get for you

I apologize, I mean it installed correctly (I think) but I cannot access the dotnetnuke admin screen to begin working with it. I keep getting the namespace DotNetNuke ismissing

There should only be one web.config in the folder to which DotNetNuke was installed - they should not be merged. Perhaps GoDaddy had an an ASP.Net welcome application running in the folder before the DotNetNuke install. The missing DotNetNuke namespace is an indication that the references included in web.config are missing or otherwise corrupted. The correct web.config file should have the following node near the top:

<sectionGroup name="dotnetnuke">

Any other web.config file should be deleted. If you made any changes to the correct web.config, you will need to restore it to what it was before trying to merge the two web.config files.

Yeah that is what I thought, the problem though is that within my actual website I have a webconfig file that also references custom assemblies like infragistics and a usercontrol, if I dleete the main websites config file then the website wont work. What do I do in that situation.

While running DNN out of a sub directory is not recommended, it is possible to do. You can try using the following code to disable inheritance from the primary web.config for any child applications that also use a web.config file:

You will need to wrap this around the specific sections that you do not wish to have inherited or just wrap it around the entire section and see if you are able to run the installer. Otherwise, I would highly recommend setting up the DNN subdomain in its own separate root folder.
