Hello.  I have created two parent portals and created URL aliases for each.
Portal 1 has alias foo.com
Portal 2 has alias oof.com

I have read that one must "point" a URL to DNN main install URL (ofo.com/dnn) in order to have multiple domains go to DNN and their respective portals.

How do I point?  Do I change A Record and point to the ofo.com's IP?  Do I edit foo.com's CNAME to match ofo.com?

I have had a number of sites set up as portals on one DNN installation..

My hosting co. requires that the main site have a dedicated ip address in order for this to work.

You then need to make sure that the DNS "A" records for the domain are set to that IP address. I can do all this for my sites through my hosting control panel. If you are also providing e-mail services to those domains, you will have to set up customized "MX" records as well. If your host provides yo with this capability, you can do it yourself, otherwise you will have to get the hosting co. to do it for you.

FYI: it is a total PIA to host sites like this. I am converting all my portal sites to stand alone. (Search posts on this forum, I have posted about this before)

search on "sites to portals" as far back as Dec or Jan 2011

I have a similar issue, but on my site i have many domains pointing to the main domain name but one it's no working properly. when i type the domain name all i get as error is:

runtime error: Server Error in '/' Application.

I'm not sure why one doesn't work when others work fine. It used to work but no sure when it stopped working If i ping it I see it reply with the right IP address as the others and the DNS it is not expired. Any suggestions on what or how can i fix this issue?

Any settings that I have to check on DNN?
Thanks in advanced for the help.

You need to add portal alias from host panel and also remember to add all the domains to IIS hostheader.
