Hi folks,

I read DotNetNuke 5 User's Guide, but still don't know how to handle (what seems to be) a common task.  How do I go about displaying some Sales figures to the Sales Person that is logged on?  I'd like to create one page that is only available to the "SalesPerson" role, but then have some module display only the sales figures for the salesperson that is logged in.

I don't want to have to manually update these figures either.  Instead I'd like to use a sql query to aggregate the figures for each sales person.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Chris Boyle

Chris, there is no global answer, it depends on your concrete use case - how to retrieve data and associate it to the user currently logged on.

Thanks for your reply Sebastian.  I'm not inquiring about how to retrieve the data, I am wondering how to "display" the data on a page in a DNN website, based on a user.

Generically put, I want a single page in DNN to render different content based of which user is logged in.

Another example of a real-world scenario would be having an employee of our company logging in to a DNN intranet website and being able to see their own personal Vacation Days Remaining.  Ignoring the "source of the data" and "the exact sql statement" required, how would one go about having the Vaction Days Remaining?

Thanks for any help.

Chris

There are a couple of options.

1. Use the Razor Scripting Host to query your database and display the info for you using an <asp:grid> or the very cool telerik radgrid or whatever other layout you require.

2. Use a 3rd party SQL View tool like the one offered by Onyaktech.

3. Create a custom module to perform the query and handle the display of the info for you using an <asp:grid> or the very cool telerik radgrid or whatever other layout you require.

fwiw have a look at the blog or forum modules - they are all single page modules - rendering different info depending on the situation.

Be it a differnt user or query string or portal
