Hi there,

I've looked at using Dot Net in the past when it was first released and didnt run with it.Now I see it has come on leaps and bounds. I have a new project to deliver and just want to know how easy, if at all capable Dot Net is in doing it.

In a nutshell, I want a user to visit my portal site... say its FanClub.com  I would then allow the user to setup a fan club to someone they like... movie Star, Football Star etc. In this process they would select a banner, background, where the banner would display, where the menus/tabs would display, colours skins etc, as if it was their very own web site. On the main Page of FanClub.com a user could browse/search for any fan club and join it and have access to in essence the Fan Club Website as they would see it.

Obviously this is very high level but there would be a few forums on each Fan Club, with some Content management on the site for the creator of the site. So each site is like personalised.... note I use the word 'site' very losely as its the impression I want to give... ie that each Fan Club is its own site.

Also if there was something that you would know of that would fit the purpose better I would be grateful.

best regards Mick

Hi Mick ~

DotNetNuke is certainly capable of delivering that kind of functionality.  Obviously, there is tons of room for customization or customization and features, etc. but the answer is a definite "yes". Active Social is a suite of functionality that does a lot of this right out of the box.  It's currently an affordable 3rd party purchase, but much of it will be merged into the core platform with the next major revision due in summer.

Hope that helps!
