Hi All,

I am new to DNN. I found a lot of information about creating and maintaning data from UI. As DNN is a Database based CMS system, I would like to know more infromation about the DB Schema. But I could not find anything which gives me details about different Tables/ Stored procedures. Which tables are used to store which information etc ect etc. All about Database.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

There is an erd document published by chris smith on a reasonably regular basis that can be found at

http://www.nddllc.net/Documents

The current version is for 6.0.1 - but it should give you a place to start - HOWEVER - I would give on pretty big warning - as a rule you should never code directly against the DNN database or even directly against dnn core store procedures - unless there is a reason why you just absolutely have to.

All access to DNN you be made thru calls to the DNN API.  The underlying core tables and structures have evolved and changed many times over the course of DNNs development - but the APIs have been coded to ensure a consistent interface for developers.  The table that holds a set of data may change or evolve but the API strives to remain consistent.  Sure over time methods get obsoleted - and should be updated and replaced with new code - but those obsoleted functions are still there in the API and refactored / recoded to keep on functioning against the new table structures.

Westa
