Hi i a new to dotnetnuke and is currently doing a project about it. i am looking through the tutorial right now but i cant log in to the database engine with my laptop. I've read some of the forums and they are saying that i should run it as the administrator, BUT with my laptop, I'm the administrator . I'm lost, please help me.

Server Name: .

Authentication: Windows Authentication

User name: Jovan-PC/Jovan

password: NIL

I assume you're referring to connecting to the database during the DNN installation because this wouldn't be a DNN issue otherwise. If so, don't use your credentials to attemtp to connect. Log in to the database, create a new database as well as a user and use that new account to connect.

Thank you Mark. If i don't use my credentials to connect does that mean i have to use the SQL Server Authentication? But that requires a username and password which im not sure where to get. Thanks a lot.

you may use integrated security, which requires granting dbowner role for your database to the windows user, specified in the IIS application pool, used by your web site.

Yes. Create a new ID and password for your new DNN database and use those credentials. I never use my own credentials since I prefer to use a new account to use with DNN.
